Secondary Breast Cancer Symptoms

The appearance of symptoms of breast cancer in women is a pretty terrifying prospect. All cancers pose a serious, often deadly danger to human life and the things that a patient must go through to have a chance of survival can be hard to endure. Cancer can be driven into remission, but the treatments that do that are expensive, stressful and not done quickly. However, given that the only other choice, when faced with one, is not really a choice at all, it is something that we must all be ready to accept.

Breast cancer is dangerous, but if people are attentive to the symptoms of breast cancer in women, it can be dealt with before it becomes a death sentence. More than a fifth of all cases of cancer is breast cancer and nearly a sixth of all women who die from cancer had breast cancer. Breast cancer can afflict men, but only one case of breast cancer in a hundred will involve a male. It is still far more a problem for women than men. But, with good care and vigilance, it can be reined in and a life saved.

The commonest and best known of the symptoms of breast cancer in women is an odd lump in the breast. Women should check themselves often and thoroughly for any such lumps. Not all of these lumps will be cancerous, but any woman who finds them should have it tested. Two further major symptoms of breast cancer in women are swelling and painful discharges. As cancer spreads throughout the chest and especially to the lymph nodes, it will cause swelling in the chest and under the arms. It can also cause discharges of bloody fluid from the nipples. There are also lesser signs such as unusual bleeding, coughing and even fevers that can be mistaken for symptoms of other problems but can be signs of breast cancer.

If it is found soon enough, cancer can be stopped by simply removing the tumor and some radiation. Cases of breast cancer that are further along are more dangerous. They will need to be treated with surgeries to remove tumors as well as perhaps affected glands, chemotherapy, and even radiation. The most advanced cases of breast cancer will spread to places beyond where cancer began and offer little hope for survival. It’s very important to look out for symptoms of breast cancer in women to give the unfortunate the best chance to survive.
